  • We are going to save all of our work for this topic into a PowerPoint, that will have a menu like our spreadsheet user interface.

  • To download the PowerPoint by clicking on the image below

  • Can you add a hyperlink to the lesson 1 button on the menu page?

  • Task 2 - Flowchart Symbols Click to see more

    Using flowcharts to create Algorithms

Computers follow instructions or sequences programmed into them.

A flowchart can be used to help design a sequence or Algorithm. Actions can be ordered, reordered or removed if no longer necessary.

  • Compare these symbols with the ones we will be using in the flowchart program flowol
  • .

Make sure you memorise these symbols as they will be part of the assessment. You could screenshot them into your PowerPoint.

    Solving Problems using Algorithms

    Sequencing an Algorithm

There are several aspects of control Algorithms but all of them involve controlling computers and creating sequences of instructions for the computer to follow.

    Control technology is used to:

    • operate systems, eg traffic lights
    • control actions, eg a robot's movement
    • create video games
    • control manufacturing devices, eg laser cutters

Read the instructions in the worksheet below and then complete it by downloading a copy to your computer.

  • Add a screenshot of your completed worksheet into your PowerPointk?

  • Task 4 - Using Flowol Click to see more

    Getting to know Flowol

Read through the slides below and follow the instructions to create a Zebra crossing flow diagram using Flowol.

  • Add a screenshot of your completed zebra crossing into your PowerPoint

  • Please click on the button below to find out how we use Sequencing in algorithms

Learning Outcomes I need to learn how to create simple linear algorithms.

    • I have a basic understanding of how I can create simple linear algorithms. with a little help from my teacher
    • I can show my teacher that I can create simple linear algorithms. without their help.
    • I can create simple linear algorithms. independently and I can also explain it to others and can complete any extension tasks I am given.
